A rare vintage dog cookie jar by Terrace Ceramics USA in the 1960s. The dog is Muggsy 'Toothache Dog' and his head detaches to reveal ample storage in the body. Terrace Ceramics bought the mold for Muggsy from the now defunct Shawnee Pottery and continued production of the dog but devoid of almost all color, and with a matte finish. (The head scarf of Shawnee's production line was a bright blue, for instance). Measures 9" x 8" x 12", and weighs over 4 pounds.
