Hazel Atlas Apple Bowls, Set of 5, Each bowl measures 6.5" x 6" x 2". These were made during the 1940's to 1950, during the Colorful Kitchen Glass Movement. Some people view them as depression glass, some people also view them as milkglass - They aren't either but were made around the same time. Milkglass gets confused here, This is a process called Platonite, where they used opaque glass that was treated with various colors and finishes.
Bowls are in good condition. They have been thrown into the dishwasher too much and although red, they are not shiny but have a sheen look. No chips or cracks. Check photos you will see a tiny spot of missing color where the opaque glass slightly shows thru. In the next 10 years these will be antique. Very cool item, history piece. Made in Washington, PA at their factory. Factory closed in 1956 but still stands and can be seen. Made in USA.
