Chikusen Yukata Fabric, Cotton, Shrunk, Indigo Dye

This is a high-quality yukata fabric, a cotton-shrunk fabric from the long-established brand Chikusen.
It is a fabric from Ginza Kishiya (the store in Ginza no longer exists).

The simple pattern makes it more suitable for casual outings with a half-collar than a yukata.
Although it is navy blue, the woven pattern and the shrunken texture give it a deep indigo blue color, adding a sense of luxury.
The navy blue color (closer to ②③④) has a woven pattern that adds depth to the navy blue.

Sayama-chiku and Akashi-chiku are particularly known for their use of high-quality, tightly twisted yarns to create a cool feeling.
They use yarns of different counts, with the weft yarns being tightly twisted to create a shrunken texture that utilizes the restoring power of the yarn.
The strength of the yarn twist determines the texture of the fabric, and Chikusen emphasizes the coolness by using tightly twisted yarns (according to the information attached to the fabric).⑧
However, I heard that Chikusen-chiku is no longer available.
Perhaps it is due to the high cost and labor involved. I believe it is a valuable item.

This item has been stored at home for a long time, but I have determined that there are no signs of fading, damage, stains, or deterioration on the fabric.
After carefully checking again, I found a faint stain of about 1 mm on the surface of the folded fabric (not on the fabric itself, but on the edge, which is not a problem for tailoring). It is not visible in the photos.⑨⑩⑪⑫
In my opinion, it is barely noticeable and the overall color of the fabric is still beautiful. Please refer to the photos.
